David Nail, Gin Blossoms highlight Mizzou pre-game concert series

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri Athletics Department announced today the launch of its first-ever "Tailgate Concert Series" to take place before all 2017 Mizzou home football games.

In partnership with fan-focused hospitality and entertainment company Blockparty, each concert will feature a nationally-prominent artist, and will take place following the "Tiger Walk," which happens two and half hours prior to kickoff. The stage for each performance will be in Tiger Town, the free fan fest area located on the east side of Faurot Field on Mick Deaver Memorial Drive outside of Memorial Stadium.

"We believe the Tailgate Concert Series will be a great addition to the Mizzou game day experience for all Tiger fans," said Mizzou Senior Athletics Director for Marketing and Revenue Generation Jay Luksis. "We've been able to secure a great line-up of artists for the season that should appeal to fans of all ages."

Concerts will last for approximately one hour to leave Mizzou fans ample time prior to kickoff to enter the stadium. Admission to the concert series is free and does not require a game ticket.

"What we've created at Missouri is not only unique to us, it's unique within college football," said Block Party co-founder and CEO Adam Ward. "We're able to draw on our experience in both sports and music to provide the ultimate in game day entertainment."

The current scheduled 2017 concert series, which is subject to change, includes…

  • September 2 vs. Missouri State – Ocean Park Standoff
  • September 9 vs. South Carolina -- Lauren Jenkins
  • September 16 vs. Purdue -- Wilder
  • September 23 vs. Auburn -- David Nail
